Admirable was founded in Vancouver in 1993 by Abdullah, an immigrant who arrived in Canada with a master's degree, a work ethic, and a clear sense of what he wanted to build. Thirty years later, the company he started from scratch is still here, still growing, and still run by the same family.

Abdullah didn't inherit this.
He built it.
Abdullah came to Canada from Afghanistan with a master's degree in journalism and the kind of resolve that comes from starting over somewhere new. He didn't use the degree. What he used was the discipline behind it: the ability to show up, pay attention, and do things properly when no one was watching.
He started Admirable Painting & Decorating Ltd. in 1993 and spent the better part of a decade working across some of West Vancouver's most demanding residential projects. That market doesn't forgive careless work. It taught him what a real standard looks like and how to hold it.
As the work expanded, so did the credentials. Abdullah completed industry courses, sat BC's construction licensing exams, and did the work of learning the trade formally, not just on the job. The licensing wasn't a formality. It was the same approach he applies to everything: if you're going to do it, do it properly.
Over time, Admirable grew beyond finishing work. Full builds, trade coordination, project management, property development. Abdullah has personally overseen dozens of homes from the ground up: tear-downs, full rebuilds, custom new construction. Not managed from a distance. On the tools, on the site, in the decisions. Not through a grand plan, but because clients trusted Abdullah and kept asking for more. The company followed the trust.
Vancouver is where Abdullah built his career, raised his family, and chose to stay. That's not background detail. It shapes how he approaches every project. He's not building in this city for the transaction. He genuinely believes in adding quality to a place he calls home.
The second generation
is in. 2026.
Abdullah's son grew up alongside Admirable, born just a couple of years after it was founded, watching it evolve from a painting outfit into a full construction group. In 2026 he joins full time, bringing a fresh perspective to what's already a thirty-year foundation.
The goal isn't to change what works. It's to take a company with deep roots and a hard-won reputation, and build the next version of it. Thoughtfully, ambitiously, in the city they're both from.
What We Believe
Accountability isn't a selling point. It's a baseline.

Vancouver deserves better than generic.
This is one of the most extraordinary cities in the world. The buildings going up in it should reflect that. We hold our work to a standard the city is worth.
